After touting artificial superintelligence, Mark Zuckerberg is promoting his smart glasses. For him, their absence will soon be a handicap.
Smartphones are finished, AI is targeting your face. This is Mark Zuckerberg's vision, announced during Meta's second-quarter results.
According to him, smart glasses will soon be universal. "Without AI-powered glasses, or a means of interacting with AI, you will likely be cognitively disadvantaged," he claims, mentioning Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta, and Project Orion.
AI at the service of the metaverse
Zuckerberg sees glasses as the ideal support for AI, merging the physical and digital worlds and accelerating the development of the metaverse, thus justifying the cost of Reality Labs, his virtual and augmented reality laboratory, which lost $4.53 billion in the second quarter, or $70 billion since 2020.
